Why Mr. Peter Obi was ‘detained’ in UK airport.

Mr. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, was detained in London, United Kingdom, where he celebrated Easter, Head, Obi-Datti Media, Mr. Diran Onifade, has revealed. According to Onifade in a statement on Wednesday, Obi was harassed by London immigration officials and placed on detention. He said Obi arrived at the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, and joined the queue for the necessary Airport protocols when he was accosted by immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside. He was questioned for a long time and it was very strange for a man who lived for over a decade in that country. “The high implication of the offense is that the impersonator could be committing all kinds of weighty crimes and other dubious acts and it would be recorded in Obi’s name,” Onifade said. He added that since the impersonator is still at large, the scenario is unimaginable as Obi could be implicated in a ser...

Ebonyi elections sham– Onwe, senatorial candidate, set to reclaim his mandate.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance senatorial candidate for Ebonyi Central and former senator, Emmanuel Onwe, shares his thoughts on the elections in his state, why he lost and his next move. You contested the senatorial election for Ebonyi Central but you lost, how will you describe the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections in Ebonyi State? There are words I’m usually reluctant to use, like the election being a rape of democracy. The dishonesty and loss of credibility by the Independent National Electoral Commission have jointly taken this nation back more than 50 years. That is the best summation of what happened on February 25. It was not an election; it was a mockery of people’s expectations and the prospects of a better Nigeria and it will take time for Nigeria to recover from it. Prior to the elections, your party raised the alarm over threats of kidnapping, harassment and intimidation of opposition politicians and their supporters in your zone, co...

EBONYIANS CELEBRATE AS THEY WELCOME THE FIRST NEW PRIVATE RADIO STATION.

Ebonyi State is one of the states in the Southeastern region of Nigeria without a private radio station since its creation in 1996. However, the only radio station they have is Ebonyi State broadcasting corporation (EBBC) Salt FM 98.1mhz, and the radio Nigeria Unity FM 101.5mhz.  In the area of (EBBC) Salt FM, owned by the state government, its services have been anything that has to do with the government. The opposition has no right to advertise its services on the station. That's why during the 2023 general election, hardly you hear where EBBC is advertising opposition jiggles or any other advert. Radio Nigeria, Unity FM was doing well but not until they begin to lack maintenance, they had dilapidated structures, and the inability to fix some of those things caused more damage to the station as they lose many of their customers. Today, the joy of the people of Ebonyi state has been without bounds as they welcome the first private Radio Station in the state's Capi...

Chimamanda writes Biden, says the 2023 elections ‘unacceptably, unforgivably’ flawed

AWARD-WINNING Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has criticised the United States and other members of the international community for endorsing Nigeria’s president-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC), describing the process through which he emerged as unlawful. Nigeria held one of its most competitive presidential elections on February 25 across all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, after which Tinubu was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, the manner in which the elections were conducted has come under heavy scrutiny and criticism, with the opposition challenging the process and outcome in court. Although the country’s last presidential elections were arguably the most competitive, it also recorded the lowest turn-out – only about 25. 2 million total votes were cast, even though INEC said it had distributed 87 million Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). Many have attributed th...
