Breaking News: Ebonyi APGA congratulates Rt. Hon. Nwobasi as he emerged the winner of Ezza North/ Ishielu federal constituency election Re-run.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the rescheduled election in the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State.

The candidate of APGA for Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Nwobashi Joseph was declared the winner by the INEC Declaration Officer, Prof. A.O. Ibegbu, in the April 15, 2023 Rerun electio,n in the Constituency.

APGA candidate polled a total of 11,890 votes to defeat his closest rival - the candidate of PDP - who got 11,150 votes. Labour Party garnered 8,076 votes.

The Constituency is where the APGA Governorship candidate, Prof. Bernard Odo comes from.

Ebonyi lawmakers threaten speaker with impeachment over gov’s loan request.

Crisis appears to be brewing at the Ebonyi State House of Assembly following the demand by members to impeach the Speaker, Francis Nwifuru, if he refuses to resign. Nwifuru, who is also the governor-elect, has been the Speaker since 2015. A document, titled, ‘Ebonyi Speaker under fire to resign or risk impeachment,’ signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Assembly, Mr Egede Sylvester, and obtained by our correspondent, said the members demanded the immediate resignation of Nwifuru and his deputy, Kingsley Ikoro, or they should face impeachment.
