Ebonyi State is one of the states in the Southeastern region of Nigeria without a private radio station since its creation in 1996. However, the only radio station they have is Ebonyi State broadcasting corporation (EBBC) Salt FM 98.1mhz, and the radio Nigeria Unity FM 101.5mhz.
In the area of (EBBC) Salt FM, owned by the state government, its services have been anything that has to do with the government. The opposition has no right to advertise its services on the station. That's why during the 2023 general election, hardly you hear where EBBC is advertising opposition jiggles or any other advert.
Radio Nigeria, Unity FM was doing well but not until they begin to lack maintenance, they had dilapidated structures, and the inability to fix some of those things caused more damage to the station as they lose many of their customers.
Today, the joy of the people of Ebonyi state has been without bounds as they welcome the first private Radio Station in the state's Capital which is ready to give them all the necessary services without any form of bias.
